Description of Work The position provides direct service to patients through assessments, psychological testing, individual and group psychotherapy as well as creation and management of individualized behavior plans. This position also serves on special project committees as assigned by the supervisor/Psychology Director and supervises graduate psychology students as assigned. Our 24-hour in-patient facility serves adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. The NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, with approximately 18,000 employees. DHHS manages the delivery of health- and human-related services for all North Carolinians, especially our most vulnerable citizens – children, elderly, disabled and low-income families. Cherry Hospital (CH) is a State-of-the-Art psychiatric hospital located in a beautiful rural area of Goldsboro, NC. Although rural, Cherry Hospital is convenient to the Triangle Area (Raleigh/Durham) and the coastal region of the state. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Requires broad-based knowledge of psychological theory and its applications in the treatment of psychiatric disorders. Thorough knowledge of core areas of normal and abnormal psychology including motivation, development, learning and psychotherapy.
Skill in provision of comprehensive psychological evaluations using objective and projective measures is essential, as well as providing a wide array of therapeutic interventions for patients with major emotional and behavioral disturbances.
