The Agency You’ll Join The NYC Mayor’s Office administers all city services, public property, most public agencies, and enforces all city, state, and federal laws within New York City. New York City’s Mayor, Eric Adams is head of the executive branch of New York City’s government. The Team You’ll Work With The Mayor’s Office of State Legislative Affairs (SLA) serves as the principal liaison between the Administration of Mayor Eric Adams and the New York State Legislature and Executive, working to foster productive relationships with the Governor’s office, State Senate and Assembly. The Office assists the Mayor’s Administration in developing and advancing the Administration’s agenda through State law and the State budget. This position is based out of the Albany, N.Y. Office. The Problems You’ll Solve The Senior Advisor will be assigned a portfolio of City agencies and be responsible for all legislative and budget activity, hearings and member requests related to the specific agencies. The Senior Advisor will act as a liaison between the Mayor’s Office, agencies, and State government, facilitating and approving all meetings between State elected officials and staff and agency officials and commissioners. Duties of a Senior Advisor include, but are not limited to:
- Tracking legislation introduced by the State Legislature and monitoring its progress as it moves through the legislative process.
- Working with agencies in reviewing and preparing legislation.
- Working with agencies in crafting responses to State legislation and budget proposals.
- Preparing written analyses of legislation, including but not limited to public memos in support or opposition.
- Reviewing weekly interagency reports and memos.
- Facilitating interactions between the State and the Administration, including responding to requests from members and staff in a timely manner.
- Coordinating delegation meetings and/or special events; and
- Handling special projects as identified by the Director. About You
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience with any combination of the following: the New York State legislative process, public policy analysis, New York City or State agency operations and lobbying.
- Excellent verbal, writing, research, analytical and organizational skills, with a strong work-ethic and the ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects in a timely manner with constantly shifting priorities.
- A clear commitment to public service.

- Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, collaborative and dynamic team culture
COMMUNITY COORDINATOR
- 56058 Minimum Qualifications 1.
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or 2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in “1” above.
