We are currently searching for a Traffic EIT to support our East Gulf Region located in Birmingham, Mobile, Tuscaloosa, or Huntsville, AL. Candidates must be willing to relocate to Alabama if out of state. What you’ll be doing: Assist with preparation of technical reports for traffic impact studies, interchange access requests, or safety studies
Assist with development of traffic impact studies, land use planning, master plan studies, traffic signal warrant studies, bikeway planning and design, community and campus planning, technical report writing
Work on temporary traffic control plan/traffic management plan (TMP) and signing, pavement marking plans
Work on traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations
Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings and engineering reports
Assist with and prepare roadway design plans
Attend project meetings with clients
Learn project budgets to meet financial metrics
Potential to learn and participate in business development activities
Performs other duties as assigned What you need to have: BS in Civil Engineering
Recent college graduates encouraged to apply
EIT (E.I) Certification is desired but not required 0 – 4 years of experience
Experience with transportation planning, including comprehensive corridor analysis, local programs, public involvement, safety and access, pedestrian and bicycle planning, multimodal planning and traffic operations are desired but not required
Familiarity with DOT traffic design standards, MUTCD and AASHTO
Familiarity with traffic analyses software such as VISSIM, Synchro/Simtraffic, Sidra Intersection, HCS are desired but not required
Familiarity with OpenRoads Designer is desired but not required
Self-starter and capable of completing tasks with minimal oversight
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
Willingness and motivation to curate and eventually develop personal client base
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
Valid driver’s license
A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
