Job Description

Full-Time, Direct Perm, Senior Planner position that we are looking to fill with our Community Planning and Development Department. The Position will pay $120K- $135K /Year. Hours are Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM They will be working 100% on site at our Griffin Road Office, Davie, FL 33314 Senior Planner –

  • The incumbent in this position is responsible for the execution, development and implementation of planning assignments for the Planning & Development Department, as well as managing other planners and coordination of their work.
  • The employee participates in the creation and modifications of residential and commercial site-plans, processing of home site applications, preparation of land use maps, establishment and modification of rights-of-way, property access to rural residential lots and business sites, coordinates with other tribal departments in the set-aside application process, home sites research and assignments amongst the different reservations.
  • This employee collaborates with the GIS Manager and the Planning and Development Director to develop web applications that visualize the progress of Capital Improvement Projects from concept through design, construction, and closeout.

Additionally, they create 3D models that are transferred to the end-user department to support facility management.

What we are looking for:
  • The individual works with relative independence on routine activities and operations and exercises increased initiative in performance of the assignments
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience working in urban and regional planning or related field is required; or an equivalent combination of education/training and experience will be considered.
  • Prior experience in the development of Capital Improvement Plans is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is desired.
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, civil engineering or architecture is required.
  • Master’s Degree and/or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of ESRI ArcGIS software is required and GISP certification. Must be able to create and maintain a GIS data in an enterprise system, not just look things up on map.
  • Must be very familiar with Survey and or Engineering Standards
