Qualifications:

At least one of the following qualifications is required: Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with a relevant major. High school diploma or equivalent and five (2) years of relevant experience. Verifiable experience of at least (3) years in school transportation operations preferred, or equivalent experience. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing school bus operations Ability to develop, revise, implement, and address the compliance concerns of a comprehensive safety and training program. Ability to perform duties assigned as the District third party administrator (TPA) for the established State

HSDMV CDL

testing and examinations programs. Evidence of effective oral and written communications Computer skills and knowledge of software applications Valid class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate “P” and “S” endorsements to operate a school bus within six (6) months of employment (or ability to obtain within six (6) months of meeting FDOT licensing requirements)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associates degree or equivalent job experience •Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Implements safety training programs for drivers and bus attendants. 2. Maintains training, physical, and accident files on all drivers and attendants. 3. Responds to bus accident scenes, investigates all accidents, and prepares all reports required by the state (DOE) and district insurance administrator. 4. Recommends and supervises re-training based on accident investigation, and recommendations of any required disciplinary action. 5. Performs and supervises on-the-road observations of driver performance, and investigates activity regarding student behavior/safety at problem bus stops. 6. Reviews stop change requests from all necessary aspects. 7. Coordinates the bicycle-rider safety program. 8. Assists with administration of the District Safe Driver program. 9. Manages the HSDMV commercial driver’s license (CDL) testing program using quality assurance processes. 10. Coordinates with school administration the annual bus loading zone assessments and bus evacuation drills as per state statutes. 11. Coordinates implementation of all child safety restraint systems (CSRS). 12. Coordinates the school based First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automatic Electronic Defibrillator (AED) training for the department as per state statutes. 13. Establishes and supervises duties for HSDMV CDL, state testers/examiners, and driver trainers. 14. Manages the state’s railroad crossing safety, and stop arm violations programs, and prepares both state reports as per state statutes. 15. Other job-related functions as assigned.
