Summary:

The Resource Teacher, Site, Community Schools, will work with the school’s leadership team (including community and family members, students, school staff, administrators, and educators) to develop a Community School Plan based on a needs and assets assessment. The Resource Teacher, Site, Community Schools, will facilitate and coordinate programs and strategies that align with the school’s Community School Plan. The Resource Teacher, Site, Community Schools, will develop, promote, and further the use of community resources to create a positive impact by enhancing community and individual assets, meeting critical human service needs, and promoting long-term community solutions.

Responsibilities:

Participates as a key leader in the process to assess the school’s needs and assets. Leads the process to determine gaps in services for students, family, and community members, and identify existing resources in the community to address those gaps. Works with the school’s leadership team to analyze information from needs and assets assessments. Establishes a problem-solving team to address identified needs. Writes and implements the school’s Community School Plan. Engages the community in partnerships that meet critical needs and support student achievement. Integrates and aligns resources to school site goals. Maintains and updates agreements for all community partners and programs. Collaborates with the school leadership team to monitor effectiveness of partnerships. Coordinates all community resources serving schools, including tutoring, primary health, mental health, arts, recreation, afterschool, and any other resources identified as partners per the community engagement process (needs assessment) and districtwide initiatives. Facilitates communication and relationship-building with community partners, key stakeholders, and volunteers, including participation in community groups and/or committees. Prepares reports for stakeholders and district leadership. Provides coordination of programming during and beyond the school day for families and the community. Prepares and provides professional development for Community Schools. Performs any other duties as assigned. Experience:

Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in classroom teaching with three (3) years of related management or supervisory experience preferred.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:

Florida Professional Educator Certificate.

Language Skills:

Reads and interprets general business and professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations. Writes reports, correspondence, and manuals. Effectively presents and responds to questions from managers and the public.

Mathematical Skills:

Works with math concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Applies concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions. Interprets an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deals with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

Microsoft Office.

This position requires traveling to various school sites, work locations, and/or community organizations throughout the district.
