This is a technical position, working independently under the general direction of the County Traffic Engineer. Essential Job Duties Prepare graphs, charts, diagrams, maps, or other visual aids to illustrate observations or conclusions.
Analyzes data related to traffic flow, crash rates, or proposed development to evaluate methods to improve safety and traffic flow.
Prepares drawings of proposed signal installations or other control devices, using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
Plans, designs, and evaluation improvements to accommodate current or projected traffic to increase mobility and safety.

Reviews of Site Plans and Offsite Roadways
Reviews of Traffic Methodologies Typical Requirements Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Planning and Urban Studies, Geographic Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited institution, plus three (3) or more years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of formal education and related working experience in traffic engineering.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
Must possess or obtain within six (6) months of hire, a FDOT approved Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) Intermediate certification.
Must possess or obtain within one (1) year of hire, a FDOT approved Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) Advanced certification.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Knowledge and use of various traffic data collection equipment, including experience with personal computers, and specialized software (HCS, SYNCHRO, TripGen, HSS). Knowledge of Federal, State and local standards for signs and pavement markings. Knowledge of up-to-date traffic engineering practices. Ability to effectively supervise and coordinate activities of subordinate staff. Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and drawings related to roadways, signs and pavement markings, traffic signals and work zones. Ability to work near vehicular traffic. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to deal effectively with the general public. Supplemental Information
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is performed inside an office environment. Periodic site visits are required wick will involve working outdoors with exposure to heat, dust and inclement weather conditions.
