The company is hiring a Land Planner III for our Orlando, FL office. Reporting directly to the Planning Team Leader, this client-focused role requires the ability to deliver high-quality products on time and manage diverse partnerships. The position requires professional judgment and coordination with clients, various local governments, and regional and state agencies. The position is in-office 5 days a week.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance through entitlement process on land-use planning projects.
- Review and analyze project documents, including site plans, zoning ordinances, and environmental impact assessments, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and project objectives.
- Manage and complete preliminary site feasibility analyses (due diligence) of property on behalf of owners or prospective buyers.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate planning principles and best practices into project designs.
- Mentor junior team members, providing guidance on project tasks.
- Serve as a liaison between clients, regulatory agencies, and community representatives.
- Stay updated on relevant zoning regulations, environmental policies, and land-use trends.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Understanding of local zoning regulations, environmental codes, and planning principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Public Administration, or related field
- 5 – 8 years’ experience in planning, zoning, and/or land use, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One (1) year of experience interpreting Florida Statutes preferred.
- American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred
- Private sector experience as a planning consultant for public sector clients preferred.
- Requires a valid Florida driver license.
- Occasional driving is required to various locations within Florida.
- Requires flexible hours for attendance at meetings and events.
