LOAD PLANNER
Job Description Transportation Staffing Solutions LLC/Sunland Distribution of Florida, Inc. is looking for a Load Planner for our Waverly, FL location. We are a Truckload and LTL refrigerated carrier/warehouse servicing the east coast and parts of the south and mid-west. Are you a logistics professional with experience in coordinating freight shipments by optimizing truck capacity, matching loads with suitable drivers, planning routes to ensure efficient delivery while maximizing profitability, considering factors like location, timing and customer needs, and effectively balancing driver schedules and company objectives within transportation regulations?
Key Responsibilities:
Freight Matching:
Assigning available freight to appropriate drivers based on location, capacity, and delivery timeframes.
Route Optimization:
Planning efficient truck routes to minimize mileage and maximize delivery times.
Load Planning:
Utilizing transportation management systems to create optimized load plans, considering weight distribution, dimensions, and temperature type.
Driver Management:
Coordinating with drivers to ensure they are aware of their assigned loads, pick-up and delivery times, and any relevant route updates.
Compliance Monitoring:
Ensuring adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations regarding hours of service and weight limits.
Data Analysis:
Analyzing shipment data to identify trends and opportunities in load planning and efficiency. Transportation Management Systems (TMS): Proficiency in using TMS software to plan and manage shipments.
Analytical Skills:
Ability to analyze data to identify patterns and make informed decisions regarding load planning.
Problem-Solving:
Capability to quickly resolve issues related to load planning, such as unexpected changes in schedules or delivery locations.
Communication Skills:
Excellent communication to effectively interact with customers, drivers, and internal dispatch.
Work Environment:
Office-based, often working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. May require occasional interaction with drivers and dispatch personnel.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field is preferred. Relevant experience in transportation or logistics operations is highly valued.
