$31.9K – $43.1K a year 9 hours ago Qualifications Basic math Mid-level CDL High school diploma or GED Driver’s License 1 year Full Job Description Overall Purpose Transportation Bus Router is done for the purpose/s of providing support within the student transportation services area with specific responsibilities for monitoring the support systems required to meet the transportation operation scheduling demands; providing resource information from a variety of sources; and collecting and referring information relating to transportation system operations. Direct Supervisor Assistant Director of Finance and Technology – Transportation Essential Functions Administers computerized transportation system for the purpose of providing system support to transportation services. Assists transportation manager with review and assignments of routes at beginning of year and with route changes throughout the year (physically measuring route distances, evaluating and designating bus stops, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that routes meet state guidelines and requirements. Audits routes (verify stops, time, mileage, etc.) for the purpose of making recommendations concerning route changes, optimization, and timing. Communicates with drivers and others (reviewing route maps, responding to inquiries, etc.) for the purpose of assisting with route related problems. Compiles route statistics (mileage, driver time, student count, stop addresses, number of days run, bus capacity, etc.) for the purpose of meeting established reporting requirements. Evaluates routes (bus stops, clock schedules, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring bus routes are in compliance with school safety schedules, policies, and mandated guidelines. Maintains data in scheduling system (school and employee data, driver and bus mechanic schedules, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accurate and complete information is available. Maintains route descriptions and route map documentation for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference. Participates in unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions. Performs functions of a school bus driver for the purpose of meeting the district’s transportation service needs. Prepares reports for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, conveying information, and/or complying with established guidelines. Recommends route additions, adjustments, and/or consolidations resulting from student needs (new developments, road closures, etc.) for the purpose of making efficient and safe routes. Provides a high level of customer service (maintains a positive attitude, responds promptly to inquiries, communicates through various channels, acknowledges and resolves complaints, coordinates with colleagues, provides feedback on process efficiency, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring customer satisfaction and providing professional customer support. Marginal Functions Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: reading maps; operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; and planning and managing projects. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: regulations regarding use of transportation vehicles, routing, mapping, etc. Ability-based Competencies Required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; working as part of a team; and working with detailed information/data. Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalent One (1) year experience in technology application Valid Georgia driver’s license Physical Requirements The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing.
