About the role Reporting into the Modelling , the primary purpose of the role is to provide tailored risk pricing, to support and enhance our underwriting capabilities on pricing requests, bringing clarity, transparency and understanding to the users and clients of catastrophe modelling. This role is focused on supporting our dynamic and growing Miami and New York books of business, with a strong focus on Latin America and US programs. Additional roles include leading the quarterly portfolio roll up, enhancing process through efficiency gains and developing new MI, collaborating with underwriting and MS Re’s in-house research analyst to develop new views of risk, and contributing to various projects to further enhance our analytical capabilities and efficiencies. Your responsibilities Providing lead analytical support to underwriters throughout client quoting process and providing narrative support for all catastrophe modelled figures whilst ensuring all appropriate checks are carried out Being a key point of contact for the underwriters with queries relating to the pricing of accounts Delegate modelling tasks to other team members where appropriate Review, challenge and improve the completeness, accuracy and appropriateness of exposure data used within routine catastrophe modelling to ensure the data used in analyses is fit for purpose Maintaining and growing strong relationships with the underwriting team Assisting with client and broker relationships with the ability to deal with enquiries in an efficient professional manner Turning around all pricing requests to meet deadlines in a professional and accurate manner by ensuring appropriate checks are carried out Lead portfolio roll-ups for Miami and New York portfolios Support the modelling manager, underwriting and research in identifying model discrepancies and aid in prioritising and developing new views of risk to address these Being proactive in your own development and assisting with the development of more junior staff members where appropriate Assisting with projects to enhance our analytical capabilities and efficiencies Performing ad hoc analytics Your profile Degree successfully completed in Mathematics, Natural Science, Physics, Engineering or in a similar discipline 4 years or more experience in catastrophe modelling and data analytics, including the use of vendor modelling software (e.g. Moody’s/RMS, Verisk) is a must Ability to convey complex modelling concepts to non-modellers Good communicator who is able to interact with underwriters Teamwork and relationship building skills Good self-management, time management and multi-tasking skills Good understanding of reinsurance treaties (excess of loss and pro rata in particular) and the wider industry Excellent problem solving skills and ability to think outside of the box Reliable, proactive, independent Attention to detail Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish would be an asset Coding experience (SQL, Python) would be advantageous What we offer We offer a modern workplace, an entrepreneurial culture with room for innovation and a hybrid work model.
