Position Summary:

The AMI Operations & MDM Manager plays a pivotal role in the leadership and optimization of utility metering systems, ensuring data accuracy and driving strategic initiatives to enhance utility operations and customer experience. With 10 to 15 years of experience in AMI systems, data management, and utility industry practices, this leader manages the end-to-end metering infrastructure and harnesses data analytics to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
AMI System Leadership:

Oversee operation, maintenance, and expansion of AMI systems, including smart meters, data collectors, and communication networks.

Data Management Strategy:

Develop and implement comprehensive master data management strategies to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity.

Data Analytics & Insights:

Utilize advanced analytics tools to extract actionable insights, identify trends, and inform operational and customer service strategies.

Team Leadership:

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of AMI and MDM professionals, establishing clear objectives, monitoring performance, and fostering professional growth.

Network Optimization & Reliability:

Optimize metering network performance, security, and scalability; proactively address issues to ensure high system reliability.

Data Validation & Quality Control:

Establish robust data validation, quality control, and exception management processes.

Data Security & Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with utility regulations and standards.

Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:

Regularly monitor AMI system performance and implement strategies for ongoing enhancement.

Master Data Maintenance:

Oversee maintenance and updating of customer and meter data to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

Project & Program Management:

Lead AMI system upgrades, installations, and expansion projects, managing budgets, timelines, and stakeholder communication.

System Integration:

Collaborate with IT and software teams to integrate AMI data with other utility systems and applications.

Reporting & KPI Tracking:

Generate reports to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), system performance, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Customer Support Collaboration:

Partner with customer service teams to resolve billing, metering, and data-related inquiries.

Strategic Planning:

Develop long-term strategic plans for AMI and MDM to enhance utility operations and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 10 to 15 years of experience in AMI systems, data management, and utility industry operations. Expert knowledge of AMI technologies, utility operations, and data analytics methodologies. Proficiency in data management software, analytics tools, and database management systems. Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and data privacy regulations (e.g., NIST, GDPR, utility-specific guidelines). Proven experience leading complex, large-scale projects with exceptional project management skills. Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams. Advanced analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have): Experience with AMI/MDM platforms such as Oracle Utilities, Itron, Landis+Gyr, or similar. Familiarity with utility regulatory compliance (FERC, NERC CIP, state commissions). Certification in Project Management (PMP), Data Management (CDMP), or Cybersecurity (CISSP).
