JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a visionary and experienced Data Science Manager to lead our team of innovative data scientists within the AI Platforms and Services team. Reporting directly to the Director of AI Platforms and Services, this pivotal role focuses on research and development, guiding a team dedicated to exploring the cutting edge of Generative AI to solve complex business problems and pioneer new solutions in the healthcare technology space. In your role, research involves identifying innovative ways to apply generative AI to solving complex business challenges, ensuring its transformative potential is realized across diverse domains. The team is dedicated to developing foundational frameworks such as Gen AI app/AI agent design standards, rigorous evaluation methods, and Responsible AI (RAI) principles, which underpin multiple applications and use cases developed on our platforms. Additionally, you will guide a group of data scientists tasked with exploring generative AI use cases and creating proofs of concept (POCs) that pave the way for impactful deployments. As the leader of our data science R& D efforts, you will lead, manage, and mentor a team of 5 to 6 talented professionals with varying experiences, fostering their professional growth and creating an environment of collaboration, and high performance. You will define and execute the R& D roadmap for Generative AI foundations , aligning research initiatives with strategic business objectives and emerging technological trends. By cultivating a culture of relentless curiosity and experimentation, you will guide the team in exploring novel gen AI techniques, architectures, and tools such as cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), programming languages (Python, R), and machine learning platforms (e.g., SageMaker, Vertex AI). Your role involves overseeing the end-to-end process of building and testing AI prototypes , from initial data exploration and hypothesis testing to developing functional Gen AI modules that demonstrate feasibility and business value. While the team does not build predictive models, they focus on leveraging cutting-edge generative AI methods and tools to address complex use cases and deliver innovative solutions. You will act as the team’s subject matter expert on the latest AI research, actively tracking advancements in areas like LLMs, RAG, fine-tuning, and agentic AI, and championing their application within the enterprise. In this role, you will partner closely with Software Engineering, Infrastructure, Product Management, and Design teams to ensure a seamless transition from research to production for promising innovations. Additionally, your ability to translate complex data science/Gen AI concepts and research findings into clear, compelling narratives and strategic recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership, will be paramount to your success.
