Every one of us is Chiesi.” Who we are looking for Purpose Chiesi Global Rare Diseases division currently has an opening for a newly created role of Data Science Manager, reporting to the Head of Commercial and Operational Excellence – Rare Disease. The role is responsible for the application of advanced analytics to claims datasets and the synthesis of insights. This role will leverage cutting edge data science technologies and methods to help business leaders across the company make appropriate data-driven decisions. The role will play a key role in identifying opportunities for machine learning and will be an advocate for the power of data science. The role involves the full lifecycle from ideation to requirements elicitation, design, implementation, and rollout of solutions. The role will collaborate with other stakeholders across the business to evaluate opportunities and drive growth for our brands. This role is based in our office in Boston, MA office, with the flexibility to work from home. Candidates must be available to visit the Boston office as needed. Main Responsibilities Develop a deep understanding of available data sources, including data capture methodologies, sampling requirements, and descriptive statistics
Implement advanced analytics in support of our commercial teams, including explorative applications of machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence
Utilize machine learning to build predictive models
Ability to build and fine tune algorithms that scale up from small-scale proof-of-concept stage to full production systems
Develop automated capabilities which enable the application of machine learning and AI across the Business Unit
Create insightful visualizations that can help a non-technical audience make sense of complex datasets
Proactively identify business opportunities for leveraging data science and data mining efforts to solve unmet medical needs; support the analysis of claims data to generate market insights
Identify and shape business challenges and opportunities into analytical, data lead solutions, ranging from scoping and evaluating data opportunities to developing data-driven insights, data models and recommendations to fuel strategic growth
Support ad hoc projects and tasks as needed
Support the Therapeutic area of election
Provide analytics support to RWE team
Work on support and provide insight for the whole BU in spite of the region or country in which the data is from Experience Required 5+ years’ experience in predictive modeling, deploying algorithms in a production environment
Hands on experience with data mining, its concepts, techniques, and implementation
Track record of innovating through machine learning and statistical algorithms and their applications
Experience in biotech / pharmaceuticals preferred
Direct experience claims data analysis is a plus
Knowledge and familiarity with deep learning and its use is a plus
Expert at Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Programming language proficiency (i.e., Python, R, SQL, C++, etc.)
Ability to manage multiple projects in an ambiguous environment with shifting priorities and time-pressure
Ability to translate data analysis into actionable insights and strategy
Excellent problem-solving capabilities
