A primary financial services company focused on leveraging advanced technology, predictive analytics and data science to enhance customer experience and drive better financial outcomes.
The Role
This role is key for driving model development in the company, focused on developing predictive and prescriptive models for business impact within marketing, sales and operations.
Lead the data science function, delivering on a roadmap of 10-12 production models annually across key business domains.
Drive full model lifecycle: ideation, prototyping, stakeholder alignment, and delivery into production (in partnership with MLOps/engineering).
Contribute 50% of your time to hands-on tasks, including writing and reviewing Python and SQL code, developing models, and performing exploratory analysis.
Manage and grow a small but scaling team: currently 2 ICs (senior and regular DS), Data PM, and a dotted line to MLE.
Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and technical teams to prioritize high-impact use cases.
Provide technical mentorship and ensure model development meets standards for quality and performance.
Participate in hiring and team development, including building a diverse, high-performing data team.
Your Skills and Experience:
6-12 years of experience in data science, with at least 2 years in a management or technical leadership role.
Demonstrated experience building and delivering production-grade models (e.g., regression, clustering, time series forecasting, classification models).
Proficient in Python and SQL for model development and analysis.
Experience working in cross-functional teams with MLOps, Data Engineering, and Product Management.
Strong business acumen; able to align technical solutions with business needs and communicate value to stakeholders.
Comfortable working in small-to-mid-sized companies (a few hundred to a few thousand employees).
Proven ability to work in a remote, distributed team environment.
