This hybrid position is a duration-based (12-month Fixed Contract) and is located in Titusville, New Jersey. This is an exciting opening within the Advanced Manufacturing organization of Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) at Johnson & Johnson! This role will support global teams in developing Generative AI solutions that enhance business value in our manufacturing processes. As part of the Global Process Science Modeling & Data team (PSMD), you will promote sophisticated AI techniques, collaborate with experts, and establish capabilities to improve AI’s operational impact. You will lead AI model development and optimization, manage partnerships, and drive project execution across global sites to support process improvements and manufacturing excellence. Key Responsibilities:
- + Develop, train, and optimize language models and evaluate and enhance their performance, precision, and alignment with business goals, thereby improving the efficiency in manufacturing processes and investigations.
+ Collaborate effectively with software engineers and product deployment teams to transition Gen AI apps into production ready real-world applications within our manufacturing portfolio across synthetics, biotherapeutics and advanced therapies. + Develop prototypes and assess Large Language Models (LLM) scenarios to improve user experiences. + Develop, test, and implement reasoning capabilities in AI models and implement techniques in reinforcement learning and knowledge graphs. + Stay updated on the latest advancements in Generative AI and investigate opportunities by researching relevant publications and open source GitHub repositories, while actively exploring and testing techniques from these studies that can contribute to industrial manufacturing applications. + Explore Agentic AI techniques to optimize automated systems, enabling them to learn and adapt to dynamic manufacturing scenarios with a focus on autonomy, adaptability, and robustness based on feedback and performance metrics. + Effectively and systematically present findings through strong writing and fluent communications, while ensuring comprehensive and clear documentation of model architectures, training methods, and evaluation results.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
- + Minimum of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent degree is required; focused degree preferred in Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Bioinformatics, or an equivalent quantitative field

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Required:
- + Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, including internships, research, or similar experience + Programming language expertise in Python, SQL, and/or R + Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, version control, and principles of software design and best practices + Strong theoretical foundation and significant experience in machine/deep learning, generative AI, and statistical modeling + Publication(s) in peer-reviewed AI conferences within the Generative AI field •
Preferred:
- + Hands-on experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, etc.) + Demonstrated work in the development of Vision Language Models/Video analytics

- The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
- $77,000 USD to $124,200 USD Additional Description for
