Thursday, June 12, 2025 Position Summary The AI Development Lead will serve as a strategic and technical partner to business stakeholders across the firm, identifying high-value opportunities to drive investment and operational alpha through artificial intelligence. This individual will be responsible for leading the end-to-end design and execution of AI initiatives – from ideation and stakeholder alignment through to deployment and iteration. The role combines deep technical fluency in AI/ML development and prompt engineering with a pragmatic, value-driven approach to applying cutting-edge technologies. Success in this position requires not only technical excellence, but also strong business acumen, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to orchestrate complex AI workflows across diverse datasets, systems, and teams. Responsibilities Strategic Partnering & Use Case Discovery (20%) Engage with investment professionals, portfolio operations, and functional teams to understand current workflows and pain points Identify and prioritize high-impact AI opportunities based on business value, feasibility, and alignment with enterprise or portfolio objectives Translate business problems into well-scoped technical requirements Solution Design & Execution (25%) Design and develop custom AI/ML solutions, including fine-tuning of foundation models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and multi-step agents Rapidly prototype proof-of-concepts (POCs) and iterate based on feedback to drive towards scalable solutions Apply prompt engineering and chaining techniques to align model behavior with business outcomes Technical Implementation & Workflow Orchestration (25%) Build, deploy, and maintain AI workflows that integrate with proprietary and third-party data, tools, and APIs Develop robust infrastructure for automation, observability, and exception handling across pipelines Ensure solutions are production-ready, secure, and maintainable, working with DevOps, data engineering, and technology solutions groups Cross-Functional Leadership & Change Enablement (15%) Track advancements in the AI ecosystem, including new models, tools, vendors, and regulatory trends Evaluate third-party platforms for integration, augmentation, or replacement of in-house capabilities Contribute to the firm’s broader AI strategy by synthesizing trends and benchmarking against peers Documentation & Knowledge Sharing (5%) Produce high-quality documentation for AI solutions, processes, and architectural decisions Collaborate and share with the AI Scaler Group learnings and reusable components to drive speed and consistency across internal AI initiatives Qualifications Education & Certificates Bachelor’s degree, required Concentration in computer science, data science, finance, economics, mathematics, or any quantitative field, preferred Master’s degree in computer science, data science, finance, economics, mathematics, or any quantitative field, preferred Professional Experience 10+ years of overall relevant technical experience, required 5+ years of hands-on AI experience, preferred Experience in private equity or other related high finance industries, preferred Competencies & Attributes AI/ML technical proficiency Prompt Engineering Applied LLMs Workflow orchestration and integration Business acumen and value orientation Rapid prototyping and iterative development Private equity and investment domain knowledge Full-stack solutioning and engineering Benefits/Compensation The compensation range for this role is specific to New York, NY, and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $200,000 to $220,000. In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
