About the role:

The Embedded Perception Team builds the nextgeneration of intelligent video and AI-driven safety solutions,integrating high-performance camera systems and real-time edgecomputing into Samsara’s fleet and industrial products. We enablelow-latency, high-quality video processing and advanced AI modelsat the edge. This role is perfect for a hands-on, technical leaderwho wants to shape Samsara’s edge AI and multimedia strategy whilementoring engineers and delivering impactful solutions. This is aremote position open to candidates residing in the US.

  • Drive technology choices, implementing embedded solutions, and/orestablishing architectural patterns that have a broad and lastingimpact on Samsaras products
  • Identify opportunities and initiatestrategic conversations to influence the direction of ourtechnology and engineering culture
  • We operate significant AIalgorithms on the edge, and you will play a key role ensuring theiraccuracy and that they run within the constraints of the devices
  • Partner closely with our Hardware team in defining and buildingnext generation devices that can support the company’s objectives
  • Lead teams in delivering products and capabilities that contributeto Samsara’s products and revenue
  • Deliver impact by solving thehardest technical problems and enabling products to reach themarket quickly and successfully with high quality
  • Act as amultiplier for the team, elevating the impact and output of everyteam member
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s culturalprinciples (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term,Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scaleglobally and across new offices Minimum requirements for the role:
  • 8 years of experience in the design, development, and deploymentof embedded software, with at least 2 years in a technicalleadership or architecture role
  • Proven expertise in multimediaframeworks, video codecs, and camera systems
  • Strong programmingskills in C/C++, Go, Python, or similar
  • Demonstrated ability tospearhead and deliver complex, high-impact projects with multipledependencies
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, withthe ability to influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Experience deploying CV/ML models on edge devices in real-worldapplications An ideal candidate also has:
  • Played a prominent rolein shaping the engineering culture of a rapidly scaling large,global engineering team
  • Expertise in developing and managingsoftware for large-scale embedded systems, deployed on 1Mdevices
