Bioinformatics NGS Data Analyst (Part-Time) Job Summary
Location:
Cambridge, MA (Kendall Square)
Schedule:
20 hours/week, Hybrid
Duration:

Not expected Role Overview This role supports assay development for next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based viral detection. The analyst will transform bash and Python scripts into modular Nextflow pipelines and contribute to bioinformatics workflow improvements using high-throughput sequencing data. Key Responsibilities
- Develop modular workflows using Nextflow
- Translate and optimize existing Bash/Python scripts for viral detection pipelines
- Analyze NGS data using tools like BLAST, STAR, Bowtie, and samtools
- Provide recommendations for workflow design improvements
- Maintain detailed documentation and report updates regularly
- Collaborate with project managers and lab scientists to integrate workflows Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred)
- 1-3+ years experience in bioinformatics and NGS workflow development
- Proficiency in Nextflow, Bash, Python, and HPC/cloud environments
- Strong version control (Git/GitHub) and documentation skills
