As a Manager, Statistics,you willbe empowered to provide statistical leadership in the design,analysis, and interpretation of preclinical drug discovery studydata, promoting innovative design and analysis methodology.
OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this position is to provide data scienceexpertise by: Providing statistical support in the design,analysis, and interpretation of preclinical studies to enablequantitative decision making from target identification throughlead optimization Contributing statistical modeling expertise tocross-functional project teams, working closely with colleaguesfrom Discovery biology, translational research, and partner linesEffectively working with and gleaning insights from a wide varietyof data sources, from standard in-vitro & in-vivo assays to compleximaging data or sensor data Applying state-of-the-art data sciencemethodologies (taken from statistics, machine learning, and AI) andfit-for-purpose statistical analysis in support of Discoveryefforts from projects start through all stages towards
IND.ACCOUNTABILITIES
Contribute to representing data science functionon project teams in support of preclinical studies throughout thedrug discovery units and supporting functions. Perform end-to-enddata analyses, from hypotheses formulation, experimental design,writing analysis plans, data cleaning, executing analysis, andpreparing reports and documentation. Strengthen Takeda’s advancedanalytics toolkit by identifying and applying emerging techniques,as well as by developing novel analysis tools as needed.
Collaborate effectively within a matrix environment, working withscientists across various areas to understand the problems in termsof its chemistry, biology, and/or physical natures and to tailordata analyses to program-specific needs. Work closely with Takedastatisticians to ensure statistical issues in data analysis areaddressed. Communicate internal and external resource and qualityissues that may impact deliverables or timelines of the program.
Escalate issues to management as appropriate in a timely manner.
Respond to regulatory questions that are statistical in nature.
Increase the external recognition of Takeda’s data science work byparticipating in conferences, publishing work and developingexternal collaborations.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Education in a relevant field, for example a) PhD in a field suchas Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, ElectricalEngineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Computer Science, with somerelevant experience (including internships and researchassistanceships), or b) Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 yearsof relevant experience Expert-level knowledge of data scienceprogramming languages (R, Python, or similar) and experience withrecommended practices for software development. Ability to workindependently on complicated datasets, including all aspects ofdata analysis (data cleaning, algorithm development, statisticalanalysis, and documentation). Excellent oral and writtencommunications skills. Willingness and ability to self-educate innew areas. Base Salary Range:
$111,800.00 – $175,670.00 The estimatedsalary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. Theactual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors,including the qualifications of the individual applicant for theposition, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills,level of education attained, certifications or other professionallicenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/orfrom which they will be performing the job.
The actual base salaryoffered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wagerequirements for the job location. U.S. based employees may beeligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives.
