The Chief Information Officer (CIO) serves as the senior ITleader and oversees the central IT organization ‘ InformationTechnology. This position is responsible for overseeing thetechnology operations of the college and directing the InformationTechnology Division including the provision of Client TechnologyServices, Information Security & Network Services, Web Services,Enterprise Application Services, and Audio-Visual Services. This isnot a remote position.
Responsibilities
- Is responsible tounderstand, support, and carry out the college’s mission, vision,and values and comply with mandates and regulations of governmentand accrediting bodies
- Oversees all information technologyoperations for the college; manages the installation, maintenance,repair and upgrade of computers, software, enterprise systems,servers, telecommunications equipment, instructional supportsystems, audio/visual technology, web services, and other relatedinformation technology systems and assets
- Provides vision andleadership for developing and implementing information technologyinitiatives
- Possesses and communicates a clear vision for ITthrough effective messaging and partnering with other internalconstituencies
- Directs the planning and implementation ofenterprise IT systems in accordance with the mission, core values,and purpose of the institution
- Ensures security of userinformation and systems in conjunction with the Chief InformationSecurity Officer
- Manages IT staffing including recruitment,supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinaryactions in accordance with institutional goals, objectives, andbudgets
- Plans and implements new technology systems in supportof institutional strategic priorities. ‘ Develops and managesinstitutional and IT-related budgets
- Directs research onpotential technology solutions and implementations in support ofnew initiatives, opportunities, and procurement strategies
- Develops and implements all IT policies, procedures and guidelinesincluding those for architecture, security, disaster recovery,standards, purchasing, and service provision in accordance withinformation technology and audit standards
- Maintains awarenessof changing IT trends and regulations which might impact theinstitution and takes corrective action as required
- Serves onassigned committees and participates in assigned groups
- Completes required regular and special reports
- Engages with USGCIO Administrative CouncilRequired Qualifications
- Knowledge andlevel of competency commonly associated with the completion of amaster’s degree in a course of study related to the occupationalfield or fifteen plus (15+) years of commensurate experience
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverseobjectives and functions of the subunits in the division/departmentto direct and coordinate work within the division/department,usually interpreted to require three (3) to five (5) years ofrelated experience
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain avalid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the typeof vehicle or equipment operated.

This position reports tothe President.
The President assigns work in terms of college goalsand objectives and reviews work through conferences, reports, andobservation of college activities to be in compliance withprocedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.
Thework is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table orwhile intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending,or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and heavyobjects, climbs ladders, and uses tools or equipment requiring ahigh degree of dexterity.
The work is typically performed in anoffice.
The individual fulfilling the responsibilities of thisposition will be designated as Essential Personnel. As referencedin policy HR.262, Emergency/Inclement Weather Closing, ‘Employeeswhose job responsibilities may require that they work duringhazardous or emergency weather conditions to maintain criticalinstitutional functions’may be designated as Essential Employees.
