DESCRIPTION

OF POSITION

RNFA must be an experienced perioperative nurse who has acquired additional education, knowledge and judgment along with advanced technical skills to function effectively as an assistant to the surgeon throughout a patient’s surgical experience.

SUPERVISION

Reports directly to Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Function collaboratively with the surgeon and operating room team to perform safe operations with optimal patient outcomes.
Assisting in clinic by rooming patients, collecting patient’s health information and entering in EMR, wound care and dressing changes, casting, relay information between patients and physician, scheduling surgeries, pre-op patients for surgery, and other office work as needed.
Care for patients before and after surgery.
Perform post operative assessments.
Other office work as needed

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Must have an Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in nursing
Current RN license and First Assist Certification.
Have excellent communication skills to be able to follow the surgeon’s instructions and also communicate clearly to other members of the surgical team.
Must be able to stand on their feet for long periods of time.
Think quickly and stay calm under pressure.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Work requires a variety of physical activities, including moving about within and outside of all hospital properties for long periods of time. Must be able to exchange accurate information with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
