Full Job Description Position Description:

The Executive Director of Technology is responsible for the technological infrastructure of the Jefferson Parish Schools (JPS). The Executive Director of Technology supports staff and students to achieve district educational and business goals by developing and maintaining the district’s network and communications infrastructure. The Executive Director of Technology directs and coordinates all department staff and activities related to and in support of the current and long-term objectives. The position can require extend or on call work hours due to emergencies or extenuating circumstances related to safety or operational routine.

Chief Operations Officer Scope of Responsibility:

Works closely with the Chief Operations Officer and department staff to drive the mission, vision, and a set of measurable objectives for the Technology Creates a customer service-oriented culture in the Jefferson Parish Schools and maintains relentless focus on anticipating and providing technological needs to support district employees and students in achieving the district’s educational and business Holds the Technology Department teams accountable for meeting their objectives and conducts formal performance evaluations in accordance with the JPS evaluation schedule for central office Presents progress reports as needed to the Chief Operations Ensures that the Technology Department follows federal statutes and regulations, state laws, Board of Elementary and Secondary Education rules and regulations, JPS policies and procedures, and relevant contractual Plans, leads designs, and manages the district’s technology data centers and network infrastructure. Sets vision for how technology will be used by the district to enhance the learning environment. Writes and manages RPS’s for products and services as needed. Negotiates vendor contracts for products and services as needed. Implements and updates network security systems and procedures to ensure the district maintains a strong security posture. Plans, prepares, and administers the annual Technology Department budget and exercises diligent financial controls. Manages resources exceptionally when faced with financial Has working knowledge of strategic planning, implementations, and operations of a large-scale organization. Serves as the district’s registered E-Rate Ensures that all documents related to E-Rate funding and vendor approval are submitted in a timely and accurate manner. Reviews, refines, and establishes processes and protocols to build a strong hardware and network infrastructure and provide exceptional technical assistance to Counsels the Chief Operations Officer on the district’s technological challenges and Develops continuity plans that anticipate emergencies and system problems in order to avoid failures of critical Directs hardware and software selection, procurement, and its use. Responsible to carry and answers system issued phone before, during and after normal work hours due to emergencies or extenuating circumstances related to safety or operational Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Operations.

Skills and Qualifications:

Successful candidates will also demonstrate and possess: Bachelor’s Degree is required. College Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Business Administration is preferred. Ten years management administrative experience managing Technology operations at senior Strong decision-making ability, budget, experience, proven performance and resource management skills, in-depth knowledge of computer platforms, applications, and measurement systems in quality-driven Demonstrated ability to design and implement strategic plan for Solid, understanding of core technologies, including networking, the internet, and database Demonstrated ability to manage multiple technology projects and Demonstrated ability to effectively develop, motivate and manage technology Strong analytical and problem-solving Strong customer service orientation that drives technology support to end- Entrepreneurial Strong interpersonal Knowledge of education and administrative Broad-based experience in network and computer Ability to set direction and vision both on a division and system-wide Effective planning Ability to develop and implement standards for hardware, software and centralize purchasing of Ability to act as facilitator and catalyst for pragmatic and meaningful

Desirable Qualifications:

Master’s Degree. Doctorate in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Business Advanced experience in Computer Science or Management Information Systems Advanced experience in public school educational environment

Physical Involvement:

Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations and/or areas. Sitting is required most of the day. Standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting up to forty (40) pounds is sometimes required. A portion of the work day is spent reading computer screens.
