PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Senior Vice President of Resource Development reports to the President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley (BGCTNV) and is an essential member of the Resource Development function. This role leads the Resource Development function and serves as a key fundraiser responsible for expanding and diversifying BGCTNV’s individual funding base and fundraising totals while overseeing overall donor strategies both corporate and individual. The position requires philanthropic support, supports the Board and CEO’s fundraising activities, and effectively manages a variety of development team activities.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with the President/CEO to identify priorities and successfully execute business plans which support Resource Development priorities. The role will create, monitor, evaluate, execute and communicate plans with clearly defined goals, objectives, timeline and assignment of responsibilities.
- Responsible for meeting annual targets including KPIs determined annually by the President/CEO, Board of Directors, and Leadership.
- Inspires, supervises, evaluates, mentors and holds accountable a team of direct reports to support work objectives and priorities. Creates performance goals and leads with professional performance management practices.
- Maintains a comprehensive prospect list of major donors and donor portfolios. The role is personally responsible for developing and managing the individual prospect portfolio.
- Collaborates with staff, Board and leadership to identify, cultivate, and solicit donors and prospects. Cultivates internal relationships of professionalism and trust across the organization.
- Professionally advocates for BGCTNV and serves as a key spokesperson for the organization.
- In collaboration with the Marketing function, it ensures all communications and marketing materials have a consistent, branded, message throughout all mediums and methods.
- Oversees and evaluates all fundraising related policies and processes including stewardship activities, gift acceptance, contributions management, communications, marketing and messaging.
- Develops annual fundraising goals, strategy and budget in partnership with leadership for all levels of giving including annual giving and stewardship.
- With guidance from the President/CEO and Leadership, sets measurable objectives for the role which include approved key performance metrics supporting the organization.
- Oversee the development and execution of major gift proposals and case for support.
- Ensures accurate and effective management of donor records.
- Provides reporting to Board, President/CEO and Leadership as requested anticipating information needs. 042025
- Oversees the development and implementation of donor acquisition program, an annual and mid-level giving program and stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors and increasing the donor retention rate.

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.
- 6 plus years’ experience working for a non-profit organization with a proven track record of fundraising success with individuals.
- 5 plus years’ experience effectively leading teams with successful performance records.
- Ability to solve problems, think critically and identify solutions that benefit the organization.
- Exceptional planning skills with the ability to set goals and meet time sensitive deadlines.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experienced effectively using project management best practices to execute work as necessary.
- Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and presentation.
- Professional presence and confidence demonstrating ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders, executives, and people of wealth.
- Professional fundraiser with experience in full range of fundraising.
- Strong ability to convey organizational values and needs to diverse groups and individuals influencing outcomes while building understanding, commitment and trust.
- Ability to lead effective campaigns using marketing best practices applied to all media and methods.
- Experience assessing data and reporting effectively to diverse groups.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite including Excel.
- Experience with CRM systems.
