Summary & Qualifications:

Summary The position develops software solutions to meet the needs of the college, including analyzing, designing, and implementing new software as well as providing training, documentation, and end-user support.

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related field OR Associate’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience
UNIX and Windows operating systems
Web Development tools

Preferred:

Oracle or similar large-scale database support
Experience using

PL/SQL, SQR, SQL

•Plus, Brio or other ODBC related database access tools
Experience with Student and Financial software
Microsoft Office applications Essential Responsibilities (Critical) Analyzes current problems or needs department(s) is experiencing, defines functional/technical requirements.
(Critical) Designs new systems and builds database tables and indexes using Oracle and relational database methodologies. Determines hardware requirements.
(Critical) Develops programs and software modifications using a variety of programming languages and the procedures to transfer and receive data among computer systems.
(Critical) Develops reports using

SQR, PL/SQL, SQL

•Plus, C or other programming languages.
(Critical) Creates procedures for transferring and receiving data from other computer systems.
(Critical) Works with a team to ensure that the implementation project is successful, from project management through training and evaluation.
(Critical) Manages software maintenance and upgrades to ensure efficient operations within government guidelines, ensuring smooth implementation through effective testing and user training and documentation.
(Critical) Customizes software and systems according to the needs of the departments and clients, ensuring customization integrity throughout upgrades and modifications.
(Critical) Reviews practices and policies to ensure security.
(Critical) Investigates and solves problems as they arise, working with vendors as necessary.
(Critical) Works with Technical System Support staff to establish and maintain appropriate user access to programs and data and to obtain and document the necessary authorization for such access.
(Critical) Provides documentation and training for end users.
(Very Important) Assists with the evaluation and purchase of new software.
(Very Important) Maintains own knowledge and remains current in the field.
