Job Description
SMT Programmer (Quick Hire!) 1st Shift! (part of Adecco) 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars Melbourne, FL 32941 We are looking for a skilled SMT Programmer and Debugger to support Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production through the creation, optimization, and debugging of programs for pick-and-place machines, printers, ovens, and inspection systems. This dual-role position is responsible for both preparing accurate machine programs and troubleshooting technical issues on the SMT line to minimize downtime and maximize yield.

Melbourne FL 1st Shift Pay is $27 – $31 an hour
Key Responsibilities:
Create and modify programs for SMT equipment including pick-and-place, screen printers, reflow ovens, and AOI/SPI systems. Import and manipulate CAD/BOM data to ensure accurate component placement and line configuration. Conduct first article inspection and validate program performance on the production floor. Debug and troubleshoot SMT programs and equipment issues during setup and production runs. Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and operators to resolve defects related to placement, alignment, or soldering. Analyze defects using AOI, SPI, and manual inspection tools to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Maintain program databases, machine libraries, and detailed revision control. Provide support for New Product Introduction (NPI) including DFM reviews and prototyping. Optimize SMT programs for improved throughput, accuracy, and reliability. Train operators and maintenance technicians on proper line setup and debugging procedures.
Requirements:
Associate degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field; equivalent experience considered. 2+ years of experience programming SMT machines (e.g., Juki, Yamaha, Fuji, Panasonic, Mydata). Strong understanding of PCB assembly, component placement, and soldering processes. Ability to analyze AOI/SPI results and troubleshoot soldering and placement defects. Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy. Understanding of ESD practices, IPC standards, and quality control processes. Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
