Job Description
ROLE We are seeking an experienced Scientific Computing Specialist to support the National Park Service’s South Florida Natural Resources Center (SFNRC) at Everglades National Park. In this role, you will support the installation, optimization, and maintenance of environmental modeling systems, assist with scientific programming workflows, and manage high-performance computing (HPC) environments that drive ecological and hydrological research. RESPONSIBILITIESSupport the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hydrodynamic and ecological modeling softwareManage HPC systems used for environmental simulationsMonitor hardware and memory performance to support scientific workflowsMaintain secure database connectivity for scientific tools (e.g., MySQL with RStudio, Python, Appaserver)Provide technical support for scientific programming environments (e.g., C, C++, and Fortran)Compile code and manage non-standard scientific libraries and dependenciesCollaborate with scientific staff to resolve technical issues affecting research model performanceDevelop tools or scripts to automate performance tracking and system diagnosticsDocument technical procedures and modeling environment configurations for internal useAssist with system-level integration between modeling software and underlying infrastructure
