Job Description

COMPUTER TECHNICIAN
QUALIFICATIONS:

Must comply with all employment criteria legally established by the Lee County Board of Education
A high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) and one of the following:
Completion of 48 semester hours, at an accredited college or university; OR
An associate or higher degree from an accredited college or university with at least 64 semester hours of study or two years of coursework; OR
Receipt of a passing score on the ACT WorkKeys Assessment
Knowledge of general Switch and Router configuration.
Possess the ability to use effective interpersonal communication techniques, including proficient oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of the assigned task
Must be experienced in troubleshooting computers and installing hardware and software
Must be able to install and terminate CAT5e cabling and have basic networking knowledge
Valid Alabama driver license, reliable transportation, and evidence of insurance.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Background Check Required:

JOB GOAL

To perform technical tasks and provide support for the technology infrastructure to support the needs of the Lee County School System.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Applicable to

All Employees:

Attend on a regular and predictable basis.
Complete assigned tasks in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness.
Uphold Board policies, including the anti-harassment program.
Work in a cooperative manner with students, teachers, staff, supervisors, and the public.
Work effectively and efficiently under time and productivity standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUCNTIONS

Computer technician duties to include but not limited to the following:
Evaluate technology equipment to determine repair/replacement needs and make recommendations
Efficiently use resources available to district to maintain optimal technology tools for students and staff
Configure and install technology equipment ordered by the schools and other support facilities
Upgrade and maintain technology equipment at the school facilities
Maintain software to ensure security and functionality
Respond efficiently to support request by staff members
Support and troubleshoot school communication and emergency software and hardware as needed.
Install, support and maintain connections of network equipment in the school facilities
Office duties to include but not limited to the following:
Respond to requests for support both in person and remotely
Maintain technology equipment and service areas to ensure efficiency and functionality
Assist in maintaining and organizing inventory of technology equipment at the schools and technology center
Assist with the shipping and receiving of parts
Assist with the filing and maintaining inventory records and warranties.
Perform any other pertinent assignment to assist in the efficiency and effectiveness of the Technology Department.

MENTAL FUNCTIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to compare, analyze, communicate, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills and compile. Occasionally required to copy and negotiate.

WORK SCHEDULE

The work day shall be established by the supervisor but shall not exceed 7.5 hours per day, excluding ½ hour for a duty free lunch, unless other arrangements are made by the supervisor.

EMPLOYMENT

This is a 12-month position, 7.5 hours per day. Board approved salary schedule.

EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of support personnel.
