Temporary Part-Time Computer Technician
JOB GOAL
: To provide assistance with installation, repair, and maintenance of computer equipment through the Athens City Schools System.
TECHNOLOGY QUALIFICATIONS
: 1. Possess or Pursuing a degree in electronics or a computer-related field (orequivalent experience). 2 .Knowledge of operating systems. 3. Knowledge of computer hardware and software. 4. Must meet background clearance as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform preventative maintenance on computers, software, and peripherals. 2. Repair and install computer software and peripherals. 3. Maintain current knowledge of all instructional technology used in the school system. 4. Aid teachers and administrators in the proper operation of computer-based equipment. 5. Maintain work orders and job-related documentation. 6. Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, administrators, and others. 7. Ensure adherence to good safety standards. 8. Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner. 9. Be punctual in attendance and promptly comply in carrying out the duties of the position. 10. Maintain confidentiality in all Board of Education business. 11. Assist in the establishment of system hardware and software specificationsin collaboration with appropriate system personnel. 12. Assume other reasonable and equitable job-related duties as assigned bythe immediate supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1. Effective oral and written communication skills. 2. Knowledge of local, state, and federal mandates related to school technology. 3. Ability to use effective interpersonal and collaborative skills necessary for the successful implementation of programs and to maintain productive relationships among colleagues. 4. Knowledge of Board policies and procedures. 5. Mobility and visual acuity to make on-site visits to schools to improve the implementation of technology. 6. Ability to use personal computers and network technology to perform needed tasks.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
