Technical Services Job Statement Assists staff in technical support of desktop computers, tablets, smart phones applications and related technology. Support includes specifying, installing and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established guidelines. Also assists in the maintenance and testing of Network servers and associated equipment. Essential Duties Installs, configures and supports Microsoft Office applications. Installs, configures and supports various third party and Huntsville Utilities custom applications. Assists staff with the installation, configuration, and on-going usability of computers, tablets, laptops, peripherals, equipment, smartphones and software. Builds, deploys and configures new computers and smartphones. Images computers for deployment using imaging software. Insures images are kept up-to-date and meet security baselines. Installs, configures and tests video screens for a variety of applications. Provides training to end users for computer and phone deployments. Works with vendor support contacts on technical problems with computing equipment and software. Assist procurement staff in the specification and ordering of computer related hardware and software. Additional Duties Assesses functional needs to determine specifications for purchases. Maintains neat and organized computer lab environment. Assists in enforcing and adhering to network security policies and issues. Documents computer related processes, procedures and security settings. Orders PC replacement parts and supplies. Assists with installation, setup, and maintenance of network equipment. Maintains print servers and centralized printing applications Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. 1 -2 years formal education pertaining to Networking/Networking security, PC hardware, Microsoft Office and/or Hardware Certifications desired. A+, Security Plus, Microsoft Certifications are a plus.
Experience/Skills:
1-2 years experience supporting Windows desktop/laptop PCs. Experience supporting Windows tablets/IPADS, and smart phones. Experience supporting a Windows Active Directory Domain environment; troubleshooting hardware issues and replacing hardware on both desktop and laptop PCs; installing software, patches, updates on desktops, laptops, and servers; troubleshooting basic network issues, software, and printing problems. Experience working with a Windows WSUS server and SCCM desired. 1-2 years customer service experience required. Excellent communication skills desired. Experience working with VMware a plus.
