Position Summary
The Technical Support Specialist provides technical assistance to the college. This position is responsible for the installation and maintenance of technical systems and for troubleshootingmon problems related to Internet connectivity, hardware and software, operating systems, and data security and management. The Specialist also makes rmendations to improve inefficient,promised, and outdated digital systems and protocols. Occasional travel is required. The Specialist will serve all college locations and sites as needed.
This position will be based in Childersburg.
Salary Schedule E2/G2 ($52,865.00 – $61,610.00)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Complies with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Central Alabama Community College.
Installs, modifies, and makes minor toplex repairs toputer hardware and software systems.
Manges and resolves tickets representing staff-generated technical requests or problems and troubleshoots technical and process issues to maintain productivity.
Maintains system functionality by testingputerponents.
s design and implement networks.
Consults with users to determine appropriate hardware and software needs and assists in placing orders.
Maximizesputer systems capabilities by studying technical applications and making rmendations.
Testspatibility of new programs with existing ones.
Gathers data to identify and evaluate technical purchasing options.
Confirms program objectives and specifications by testing new programs,paring them with established standards, and making modifications.
Evaluates vendor-supplied software by studying user objectives and testing softwarepatibility with existing hardware and programs.
Installs software and necessary applications for workflow.
Trains users on new software in person or through a variety of tutorial channels, including self-guided training videos, user manuals, and digital instruction pages, often in collaboration with technical writers.
Maintains system capability by testingputerponents.
Carries out software, network, and database performance tuning.
Documents hardware and software updates.
Keeps up to date on technical advancements by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
Prepares reference material for users by drafting operation instructions as assigned.
Travels to other college locations as assigned.
Ads to local, state and federal policies and procedures.
Attends professional development sessions as required by the supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned that pertain to the position.
Qualifications
Associate degree inputer science, information systems, or related field from an accredited institution is required.
Two (2) year’s experience working on a desk, in IT, or similar technical function is required.
Demonstrated skill in subject area is required. (hardware and software support, web development,puter logic and programming and networkmunications). Kledge and ability to install software is required.
Kledge and ability to solve softwarepatibility, testing capability, and internet issues is required.
Ability to monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot software issues is required.
Excellentmunication skills, both written and oral is required.
Strong customer-service orientation is required.
Analytical and problem-solving skills is required.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required.
Ability to work under moderate pressure of schedules, deadlines, and requirements for accuracy is required.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on listening and questioning skills is required.
Valid Driver’s License is required.
Ability to work flexible schedule and overtime hours when necessary is required.
Bachelor degree from a regionally accredited institution is preferred.
