Full Job Description Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Team Lead to serve as both an onsite technical expert and team supervisor within a classified work environment. The Team Lead will manage a team of engineers within a specific technical discipline, support their development, and act as a primary point of contact (POC) for customers. This role combines hands-on engineering work with project and personnel leadership responsibilities.

Core Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Technical Oversight:

Manage a team of 4-6 engineers within a designated discipline. Act as the technical reviewer for team deliverables; contribute to technical work where required. Serve as the first-line technical resource for your team and coordinate with specialists for cross-discipline support. Foster a collaborative and accountable engineering culture focused on quality and innovation.

Customer Engagement:

Serve as the primary POC for customer interactions related to your technical area. Maintain and strengthen existing customer relationships. Proactively engage with new and existing customers to understand technical needs and ensure alignment with team capabilities and resource planning.

Project Management:

Develop technical project quotes and estimates. Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation. Track and report on project health, risks, and progress to leadership and customers. Lead final technical reviews and ensure quality and timely delivery of all customer deliverables. Create and maintain closure documentation for completed projects.

People Management:

Conduct performance evaluations, support career development, and manage professional growth plans. Oversee direct reports’ timekeeping, administrative needs, and compliance with internal processes. Support onboarding of new team members to Quest Defense and customer systems. Enforce compliance with customer site policies (e.g., security, facility rules, dress code). Help create a positive and inclusive culture aligned with the House of Quest values, including organizing engagement events and team-building activities.

Site Innovation & Process Improvement:

Identify and implement opportunities to improve team performance, workflows, and customer value. Collaborate with leadership to ensure hiring aligns with current and future workload demands. Participate in candidate interviews and selection processes.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field. 5+ years of experience in the aerospace or defense industry (military aircraft experience preferred). 4+ years of experience in personnel management or team supervision. 2+ years of project management experience, including budgeting and scheduling. Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage cross-functional projects. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively. Experience working in fast-paced, classified, or highly regulated environments. Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

Mostly Office Environments, Occasional Shop Floor involvement. Substantial amounts of telephone and computer work. Heavily Regulated Industries with strict adherence to procedures. Flexibility to meet business deadlines by staying late or arriving early. Typical 8 hour days plus lunch / 40 hour weeks / core (required) hours are 9AM to 4PM Ability to use personal transportation to visit customer locations.
