Job Description

Technical Support Specialist Alarid Technical Solutions, LLC Gainesville, FL If you are a motivated individual with a passion for technology and providing excellent customer service, we encourage you to apply for this Technical Support Specialist position. Candidates with IT certifications are highly desired! We are based in Gainesville, but we routinely contract in Ocala and Jacksonville. If you’re located in those areas, you’re welcome to apply.

Responsibilities:
  • Travel across North Central Florida to provide technical support and assistance to end-users in-person
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, GNU/Linux) and software applications
  • Set up and troubleshoot network connectivity
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to escalate and resolve complex technical issues
  • Resolve a variety of not-quite-IT-related physical installation issues as well
  • Document all support activities and resolutions in the ticketing system
Experience:
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Average level of proficiency with power tools
  • Some degree of familiarity with providing IT support to Windows environments
  • Strong proficiency in diagnosing and setting up networks is a major plus
  • Experience installing network drops and running network cables is a major plus
  • Experience with Mac OS and GNU/Linux operating systems is helpful, but not required
  • Familiarity with general ticketing procedures and concepts is helpful, but not required
  • Previous experience in a technical support role or help desk environment is helpful, but not necessary
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues is an absolute must
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail is an absolute must
  • Above-average computer literacy is required
  • Reliable transportation
  • Android cell phone with signal app
  • Email Account
  • Laptop and Desktop computer; must be willing to maintain an active ubuntu-derivative installation for using custom company software
  • Must be willing to learn custom company software and deal with its bugs while in development
  • Basic PC Tool Kit
  • General Tool Kit including cordless drill, wall anchors, bits, etc.
  • Cable Running Tools will be required, but these can acquired after hire
  • Enough financial solvency to purchase any needed tools

Common Daily Activities:
  • Use power tools to assemble, dissemble, and drill holes
  • Perform basic installation tasks (set up power, network connections, and assist support team in configuring devices). Note that you will often be asked to configure devices for which you may not have direct experience. It is presumed that you have a sufficient pool of related experience to learn on the fly with minimal assistance (read: minimal, not none).
  • Complete network drops
  • Audio/Visual Wiring
  • Cable Management
  • Diagnose common network outages
  • Diagnose a variety of hardware issues, both PC and other
  • Server Maintenance
  • Service printers
  • Service Point-Of-Sale Equipment
  • Service restaurant equipment (some of these devices may have minor mechanical components)
  • End-user support occurs but is relatively rare
