Our staffing services include administrative support, clerical, accounting, payroll, billing, accounts payable/receivable, purchasing, human resources, supervisory roles, utility services, water and wastewater plant operations, property and general services management, building and landscape maintenance, parks and recreation, and senior and community services. FCS specializes in municipal privatization through a task-based approach aimed at improving productivity and efficiency.
JOB SUMMARY
The Desktop Support Technician for Pembroke Pines Charter Schools (PPCS) is a front-line, customer-focused IT professional responsible for delivering exceptional technical support in a dynamic, multi-campus educational environment. This role requires a proactive, service-oriented individual capable of resolving hardware, software, and basic network issues across several school locations. The technician serves as a key resource for students, faculty, and staff, ensuring optimal operation of IT systems while maintaining a positive user experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Serve as the primary point of contact for technical support at assigned school campuses. Provide first-level support for users experiencing issues with applications, devices, or connectivity. Diagnose and resolve hardware issues including desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals. Troubleshoot software problems and provide support for Windows OS and common educational applications. Maintain accurate records of service requests using the City’s ticketing system to track, resolve, and follow up on incidents. Offer remote or phone-based assistance as needed to support users not located on-site. Document technical processes and update workflow procedures to support consistency in IT operations. Travel between campuses within the City to provide timely and effective on-site support as required. Support the technology needs of students, teachers, and school administrators, ensuring minimal disruption to learning. Participate in the setup and maintenance of IT infrastructure during school events, new deployments, or system upgrades. Remain proactive in identifying recurring issues and suggesting long-term solutions to reduce downtime.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in IT support, field services, help desk, or technical support roles. Strong knowledge of troubleshooting Windows Operating Systems, hardware (PCs, laptops, printers), and peripheral devices. Basic experience with networking principles (e.g., IP configuration, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, cable management). Demonstrated ability to prioritize and resolve technical issues efficiently. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with a professional and courteous demeanor. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, multi-building environment. Physical ability and willingness to climb ladders, run cables, and work in tight spaces such as under desks.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires the incumbent to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to meet frequent deadlines. Work is performed in a standard office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The incumbent may be required to travel to job sites, other City buildings and locations, and may be required to occasionally perform a full range of motion with lifting and/or carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
