General Description This class performs technical tasks responsible for performing initial and advanced trouble-shooting and, if possible, resolution of customer incidents and requests. The selected candidate is responsible for primarily managing all help desk tickets related to technical incidents or requests for security access, administration, and password resets for multiple systems, accurately documenting tickets as well as validating each customer request. This class is considered essential personnel and also available for on-call support outside of regular business hours or work schedule. Examples of Duties Troubleshoots, diagnoses, reports on, and resolves problems associated with applicable information technology resources in assigned area of responsibility. Trains users in the use and functionality of applicable information resource systems, applications, software, and/or hardware. Provides first-level technical support to end-users in person, over the phone, and via e-mail; documents issues and resolutions. Documents and/or maps technical information for assigned programs, computers and peripheral equipment, and/or other related items. Coordinates service calls with outside vendors Conducts technical subject matter research Transports equipment for setup, repair, maintenance, and diagnostics at remote locations. Installs and maintains mobile computer terminals Participates in the migration of new software Maintains confidentiality, does not gossip and does not share information with people of staff unless needed or required. Maintains written information in a safe place. Issues, maintains and inventories cellular communication devices and portable wireless devices. Orders, maintains and inventories printing devices, parts and toner. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Typical Qualifications Associate’s Degree or two-year technical certificate in a computer related field and at least one (1) year of experience in PC support, networks, or databases; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Basic computer system or data network administration principles.
Customer service principles.
Applicable tools and diagnostic equipment utilized to troubleshoot problems.
Operational documentation techniques.

Utilizing applicable computer hardware, software, and/or peripheral equipment.
Troubleshooting and repairing computer hardware, software and peripheral problems.
Providing end-user support.
Using applicable tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and resolve information technology related problems.
Communicating technical information to a non-technical audience.
Configuring and monitoring work stations.
Taking back-to-back phone calls in a high-paced, high demand environment
Installing computer hardware, software and peripherals.
Communicating with interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Supplemental Information Physical Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to electrical currents, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises and travel.
