IT SYSTEMS SPECIALIST
in our Information Technology Department. This position is responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance, documentation, and provision of technical support for county-wide systems. Assists with software product planning, evaluation, and testing. Assists in planning hardware changes and provides technical assistance to a variety of users as well as Server and System administration. This position reports to the Chief Information Officer. The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Manage the team’s ticket queue and escalate issues as necessary Assist with network administration, including monitoring networks for problems, troubleshooting and solving network problems, maintaining system security, and adding and deleting users and backups. Maintain continuous system availability, system security procedures, and access to user accounts. Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems Manage county-wide systems such as DHCP, DNS, file, mail, and print servers and their associated operating systems and software. Troubleshooting problems in hardware, software, and cabling. Assist with the implementation and support of cybersecurity tools, policies, and practices to protect county systems and data. Support planning, installation, and maintenance of A/V systems, including courtroom and conference room setups. Assists in the planning and installation of new hardware, software, and cabling. Perform preventative maintenance on computers and peripherals. Provides technical support to peers on the use of systems and application software. Maintain confidentiality of data, files, and access codes encountered while performing support functions. Performs related work as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field; equivalent training and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree; Ability to obtain one (1) of the following industry certifications (A+, Net+, Server+, etc.) for IT professionals within one (1) year of start date; Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems; Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation; Extensive knowledge of Windows and Mac OS X Operating Systems; One (1) year of experience in a multi-vendor, multi-platform environment; Knowledge of PC/Mac hardware and software applications; Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, TCP/IP networking; Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Certifications:
Industry certifications for IT professionals a plus (A+, Net+, Server+, etc.); Higher education institution IT experience; Experience in technical writing and documentation; Experience with Intune device management solutions; Experience with Apple mobile devices; Experience with managing a service desk queue; Project management experience.
