Title:

Engineer I, IT Systems Under general supervision, provides district wide Second and Third Level Technical Support for the distribution and installation of software, upgrades, patches, and imaging; provides district wide maintenance, inventory, and problem diagnosis of servers, workstations, printers, and all associated technical equipment for the DeKalb County School District (DCSD).

Essential Functions:

The following duties are representative for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Provides remote and on-site hardware, software, and network support schools and DCSD data centers. Provides technical support to users in multiple departments; orders repair parts and equipment needed for the support in the schools, administration offices and the IT department; maintains computer parts inventory for the schools, administration offices and the IT department. Must be able to install and decommission technology equipment based on DCSD policies.
Analyzes and resolves personal computer (PC) and Server hardware and software problems; assures that all services, systems and networks are on-line and operational; reviews open calls and receives alerts of critical issues in the district; installs and supports new and existing software applications.
Manages all Apple workstations remotely or on-site for hardware or software problems, software updates, or software installs; sets up Apple handheld devices and assists with installs, upgrades and operation of iOS Mobile Device Management System (MDM).
Reviews, or gives recommendations to open hardware and software requests from district committees, schools, departments, or organizations to purchase and install hardware or software; assists with decision making for hardware and software purchases; researches and suggests best price and suggested vendor to requesting committees, schools, departments, or organizations.
Provides backup support for DCSD and AIC engineers and TV 24Hardware/Software Committee.
Manage the full identity lifecycle, including provisioning, access management, and deprovisioning across district systems. Ensure secure, role-based access and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Completes and closes help desk work orders.
Conducts trainings on technical products.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Administer and support the district’s Apple Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform for deploying, securing, and monitoring mobile devices. Maintain device compliance, enforce security policies, and provide remote troubleshooting support.
Assist in implementation and development of AI policies and solutions across the district.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or closely related area is required. More than five (5) years technical level systems support, network engineering or closely related experience is required.
