JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY
Jackson County Schools is seeking a skilled and people-focused Technology Specialist to support and maintain our school district’s technology infrastructure. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining hardware and software systems to ensure smooth operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Additional tasks may be assigned as needed to support the goals and operations of the organization. Serves as a technical resource for at least one school, resolving intermediate-level hardware/software issues and supporting system reliability and user experience. Maintain, track, and inventory technology equipment Monitor Help Desk tickets and resolve user issues Track damage and repair status of district-owned devices Assign district devices and resources to new users Provide basic training, technical support, and operational assistance to all end users on various digital resources, devices, and peripherals Provide minor troubleshooting for student and educator devices Provide online testing support for schools Attend regularly scheduled system technology meetings and trainings as required Performs other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of the Technology Department
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Successful post-secondary coursework, technology related certifications, OR 2+ years of experience working directly with computer systems Demonstrated success in diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues Ability to manage multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced support environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience in an IT support or helpdesk role Familiarity with educational technology platforms or school-based IT system
EMPLOYMENT TERMS 240
Day Work Calendar Annual Salary based on previous years of experience in a similar role
Annual Salary Range:
$40,236 – $54,073 ($20.95 – $28.16 per hour)
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed primarily in a standard in-person school setting. Requires occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 50 lbs. Requires proficiency in using district technology, including communication platforms, data management systems, and learning management systems. Standard work hours align with the school day and district office hours, but may require attendance at evening or weekend meetings, school events, or professional development sessions. Must be flexible and adaptable to varying schedules and demands across the district.
