JOB SUMMARY
The Field Support Technician (FST) will report to the Field Support Technician Supervisor. The FST is the primary provider of Level one (1) technical support to Blue Bird Dealer technicians and, if/when needed, repair support for buses in Blue Bird’s Distribution channel that require a repair prior to delivery to the Blue Bird Dealer or Fleet customer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides initial contact / support for Blue Bird Dealer Technicians & Blue Bird Distribution Gather Dealer Technician diagnostic detail and provide Level 1 troubleshooting support Clearly & concisely establish the problem statement Summarize & escalate complex / time consuming cases to Level 2 Use multiple different diagnostic software (ex. Cummins Insite, Allison DOC, Ford IDS, etc.) as diagnostic tools Travel to locations across the US & Canada to execute hands on support of repairs Keep clear & concise record of each complaint, cause and correction for quality, production and engineering review Assist other technicians when needed Perform other assigned tasks
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES FOR SUCCESS
Experience in major vehicle systems; IE basic chassis electrical systems, hydraulic systems, cooling systems, etc. is required Experience with powertrain management CAN multiplexing Experience with Digital Volt Ohm Meter (DVOM) fluency Foundational understanding of powertrain management; fault codes, sensors, etc. Experience with diesel and gasoline fuel systems Experience with EV propulsion systems Enhanced knowledge of Microsoft operating systems such as Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. Good communication, judgement and decision-making skills Able to work overtime as an on-call basis for after-hours support Must complete & pass Blue Bird Academy Associate Level certification within first 6 months of employment
BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
5+ years of Medium/Heavy Truck and/or 2+ School Bus repair experience 5+ years of experience in diagnostic software use Must have or be willing to obtain a Passport for travel to Canada Must have or be willing to obtain a CDL Class B permit Valid State issued Driver License Must be U.S. Citizen
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
: Master Medium/Heavy Truck and/or School Bus ASE Certification (preferred)
