Position Summary:
The Systems Support Specialist will support level two Plant operations, focusing on the maintenance, configuration, and reliable functioning of computer systems, network servers, and related infrastructure. Responsibilities include troubleshooting industrial equipment, supporting IT escalations, and driving innovation through technical research. The position requires close collaboration with field operations to improve communication and deliver IT training and assessments. Daily duties also involve responding to IT support requests to ensure timely issue resolution across all business areas. Key Roles /
Responsibilities:
Must be available to support 24/7 environment and participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support. Maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of end-user computer systems, network servers, and plant control systems. Maintenance and configuration of industrial network infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLC hardware and software. Collaborate with plant production and engineering teams to update and maintain other plant systems as needed. Conduct assessments of plant locations regarding equipment condition and configuration, adherence to standing operating procedures, and compliance with personnel training requirements. Provide on-site support for sensitive or high-profile jobs. Provide weekly report to Manager of Support Services reviewing critical support, training, and assessment issues needing attention and/or escalation. Create documentation when needed to handoff to Tier 1 for knowledge base. Knowledge and troubleshooting Microsoft products. (Windows 10 and M365.) Participate as a project team resource on approved IT projects as assigned. Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. Frequent travel to local plants in Toomsboro and McIntyre, with occasional travel (less than 10%) to out-of-state plants and other Wilks locations as needed. Performs other related duties as required.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a computer related field or equivalent work experience is preferred. Industry standard certifications (A+, Network+, MCITP, CCNA, ITILv3) preferred Advanced knowledge of computer hardware, mobile devices. Advanced working knowledge of current Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of Active Directory / Administrative Tools. Experience with Remote support tools. Experience with Automated Call Distribution (ACD) phone systems. Exceptional communications skills, verbal and written. Strong documentation skills. Use of common desktop productivity software. Basic Microsoft Windows system administration. Must be customer-focused, work well in a team-oriented environment, and provide quality service for the business client. Must pay very close attention to detail. Position will require a minimum of 40 hours per week unless otherwise directed by supervisor. Experience with industrial networking and components such as Moxa switches Experience with PLC systems and Wonderware Knowledge of SCADA Knowledge of automation systems
Mental and Physical Requirements:
Able to read, speak, and write English Reading comprehension – understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. Intermediate computer literacy. Strong physical and mental health to maintain demanding workload. Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs; moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Ability to work under stressful and time sensitive conditions. Communication – verbal and written communication. Seeing – to see small moving pieces when repairing equipment. Position will require a minimum of 40 hours per week, sometimes more, depending on business needs.
Working Conditions :
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Positions self to install equipment, including under desks. Moves throughout the building to access files. Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions. Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions. Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed. Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
