Job Description:

ARRIS Global Services, Inc. System configuration to satisfy Change Request requirements. Demonstration of configuration alternatives for complex requests. Evaluation, installation, and maintenance of plug-ins to enable capability improvements. Development of custom scripts and modules to satisfy requirements which are not available in the standard application. Collaboration with application vendors on recommended methods of satisfying complex requirements and resolving issues. Administration of system, performance optimization and disaster recovery testing. Execution of application upgrades. Creation, modification, execution and troubleshooting data migration scripts. Instance consolidations, server to server, server to cloud. Resolution of incidents and service help requests. Execution of problem management process to resolve production defects. Proactive monitoring of alerts and preventive action to ensure application availability. Promotion of changes from Development to Test and Production environments.

Administration of system:

System Administration:

Oversee the daily operation of key systems, including Atlassian (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Fisheye+Crucible) and JFrog (Artifactory), ensuring they are running efficiently and securely. Ensure all applications and operating systems (Linux) are running supported versions.

Performance Optimization:

Continuously monitor system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing improvements (e.g. adjusting application configurations, optimizing server resources, close coordination with network/firewall teams) to maximize system responsiveness and reliability. Address and troubleshoot end user performance issues.

Disaster Recovery Testing:

Development and testing of disaster recovery plans to ensure systems can be quickly restored in case of failure. This includes executing regular recovery plans, verifying backups, and ensuring critical data is protected. Proactive monitoring of alerts and preventive action:

Monitoring:

Continuously monitor system health, application performance, and infrastructure through alerts and logging tools (e.g. Zabbix, Solarwinds).

Preventive Actions:

Take proactive steps based on alerts (e.g. addressing potential memory or disk space issues, scaling resources) to prevent outages and ensure uninterrupted service. Equipment, Systems, and Projects. The employee will primarily work with the following systems and platforms:

Atlassian Products:

Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Fisheye+Crucible, Addons from Atlassian Marketplace. Involves a mix of self-hosted and SaaS platforms.

JFrog Products:

Artifactory, Xray, and related JFrog solutions.

Platforms:

Azure, and Linus (RedHat) OS as well as Windows Server.

Development Tools:

Tools and systems required to run applications (

Java, Oracle Database, MySQL, Git Monitoring and Logging Tools:

Application specific logging, Zabbix and Solarwinds for application performance monitoring, alerting, and logging. The employee will work within the IT department, supporting software development teams by managing and optimizing the critical systems that underpin their development and deployment processes. The primary focus is on ensuring the availability, reliability, and efficiency of Atlassian and JFrog platforms, as well as managing any system-level issues, incidents, or performance optimizations. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, or related and 2 years of work experience required. Telecommuting permitted.
