Controls Engineer Job Description Our Production Engineering department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Controls Engineer to work in the group focused on controls engineering. The primary responsibility of this position is to set up and verify systems used for manufacturing data analytics to support new model launches. Other responsibilities include developing, specifying, coordinating, and executing all internal control requirements for data collection for the department. Documentation of the planning and implementation of these systems is required, as well as training for the local NAMC Team Members on these systems. Responsibilities Set up and verify systems used for battery manufacturing data analytics to support new model launches. Develop, specify, coordinate, and execute all internal control requirements for data collection for the Battery department. Document the planning and implementation of these systems. Support the Battery department’s objective to execute Capital Projects from planning through Start of Production (SOP). Identify and remove roadblocks that hinder progress. Identify appropriate work priorities, develop and execute detailed schedules, and proactively report status to the management group. Work as a team in a cross-functional environment to drive progress and achieve project goals. Plan and monitor installation of network systems, identify field issues, and work closely with construction coordinators to countermeasure. Support and maintain detailed schedules. Contribute to the “zero incidents is possible” safety culture by exemplifying safe work behaviors, complying with construction safety requirements, and correcting unsafe conditions. Participate in a mentor program to grow as an engineer and learn from others. Essential Skills Support shop floor-level implementation of network systems, including Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and connectivity to higher-level IT-managed systems, such as Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM). Support battery network system plans and specifications, applying knowledge of OPC-UA, CC-Link, SQL, and SCADA system implementation. Configure manufacturing equipment PLCs (primarily Mitsubishi) for network systems connectivity using SLMP, Modbus, and Ethernet IP protocols. Support implementation and intuitive visualizations for line status and health indication. Setup, configure, and provide long-term support of servers. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in Capital Projects. Knowledge of Mitsubishi PLCs. Strong background in controls engineering.
