Volunteer State Community College Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of End User Support, this position is responsible for facilitating the daily operations of the Computer Operations Team within Client Services IT. This job will include designing, troubleshooting, and repairing, all faculty and staff computers, as well as computer labs at all of the Volunteer State Community College campuses. This job requires software installation, hardware installation, implementation of security, program modification, and troubleshooting of both Apple and Windows platforms. Travel to off campus locations is required.

Job Duties:

Manage the computer technicians. Design and develop computer deployment packages and images using deployment tools. Research and evaluate software packages and operating systems. Maintain, update, install, and recommend IT support applications used within the computer support team (MECM, Intune, NetSupport, remote support tools). Aid with developing and/or enforcing computer policy and standard operating procedures. Assist faculty and staff with purchasing and recommending technology. Install, relocate, maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, and repair a broad range of networked and non-networked client hardware devices and software applications. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and one year of information system/hardware support experience in a Windows-based environment or an Associate’s degree and three years of information system/hardware support experience in a Windows-based environment.
Three years of computer support in an Active Directory enterprise environment.
One year of supervisory experience and/or 3 years of experience within an IT team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Microsoft or Apple certification.
Experience with Citrix or other virtual desktop products.
Experience with System Center Configuration Manager (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager), Intune, or similar deployment technologies.
CompTIA A+ Certification.
CompTIA Network + Certification.
CompTIA Security + Certification.
Experience with PowerShell.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficient with Microsoft applications.
Intermediate knowledge of networking principles.
Ability to diagnose computer related problems by utilizing industry best practices, troubleshooting techniques, analytical skills and vendor support.
Ability to work in a team environment supporting a varied constituency and possess a solid working knowledge of technologies used in a computing laboratory environment in higher education.
Good problem solving, organizational and communication skills.
Ability to learn new technology skills quickly.
Ability to lead a team and effectively delegate.
Ability to develop and implement computer scripts.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and make decisions within college policies and guidelines.
Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.

Pay Rate:

$43,888 – $53,873 annual salary depending on experience Volunteer State offers a comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to the following:
