The Civil Systems Group (CSG) is looking for a Systems Engineer- Casual (Senior Project Engineer- Systems Engineering). We are seeking qualified individuals with experience supporting program and activities of a varied customer set at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and/or other Government customers. Functions include providing project management and systems engineering subject matter expertise to NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS), Science and Technology Office (STO), and the Human Landing System (HLS). This position is in the Human Exploration and Space Flight (HESF) Division and requires excellent customer service skills in building relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders. The candidate must have the ability to work professionally with all levels of management, particularly senior customer officials. Work Model This is a part-time casual position based in Huntsville, Alabama supporting projects at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. Offering a hybrid work model that combines 1-2 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.

What You’ll Be Doing Integrate and provide system engineering expertise across multiple programs such as NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) and Human Lander Systems (HLS) Programs Examine technology trends including new processes and products applicable to the MSFC Science and Technology Office Participate in status/planning meetings, workshops, control boards, and major milestone reviews to discuss technical analyses, requirements, traceability/metrics, and overall systems engineering processes. Identify and lead studies to provide technical solutions that cross multiple engineering disciplines such as coupled loads, thermal analyses, propulsion systems, avionics and electronics, and the testing thereof in a simulation environment, lab testing, or flight testing Provide technical consultation and advice to management, customers, and contractors in area of specialization. Senior Project Engineer- Systems Engineering Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics, Applied Science, or another related STEM discipline Minimum of 10 years of government or industry work experience within systems engineering and/or project management 2 Years of Project Management Experience with NASA or other government projects. Organizational and leadership experience in review teams and/or studies Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers Excellent written and oral communication skills – ability to organize complex materials and concepts in clear and logical manner, and communicate to all levels of leadership Willing to travel occasionally to work location or customer site/domestically This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
