Software and Systems Test Engineer
Full-Time / Remote
Monday-Friday / 8:00am-5:00pm Performs complex software engineering duties using own initiative, following established standards and procedures, and working closely with other engineering disciplines. Develops FW solutions for complex systems. Develops manufacturing, regression and test tool applications and performs system-level testing activities for a project team in accordance with contractual requirements, MIL-STDs and Data Item Descriptions (DID). This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary decision-making authority.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs complex software engineering duties including the full range of programming tasks: problem analysis, solution determination, code design and development, integration, test, modification, and documentation. Manage and conduct testing of embedded software devices and cloud applications Create test plans and test cases. Manage test case plan and test case creation. Defines test schedules and test data requirements. Track progress and generate test related metrics Recommend test controls, strategies, apparatus and equipment. Participate in software systems development from inception to completion, including gaining customer acceptance. Assists in the preparation of design specifications. Coordinates and develops project concepts, objectives, specifications and resource needs. Monitors project status and progress. Manages budget and schedule for software and hardware testing tasks. Consults with other Engineers to evaluate hardware/software interfaces and optional performance requirements. Conducts and participates in in-house design reviews and technical meetings. Organizes and coordinates programming tasks assigned to other Software Engineers. Provides technical guidance to lower-level programming personnel. Stay informed of improvements in software engineering techniques. May participate in total quality management/continuous process improvement teams. Develop manufacturing functional test stations. Requires ability to analyze printed circuit boards and develop tests to exercise all modules of the board. Software assistance in board bring-up. Develop firmware to exercise and evaluate modules on the board. Develop software test tools to include automated tests as needed Writes manufacturing regression, and system test applications involving hardware and software components
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
(education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities): Four-year college degree plus five years of experience in software engineering or a masters degree in software engineering or related area with three years of Software Development and Test experience. Experience to include specification, design, development and testing of software systems. Requires proficiency using programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or other developmental software. May require the ability to develop software in a Linux, Windows 11 or embedded environment. May require experience with embedded processing. Ability to use PC software such as word processing, database, spreadsheet and flowchart, and computer aided software engineering (CASE) tools. Effective written and oral communication skills required. Knowledge of customer needs and competing products is desirable. Able to analyze and solve complex software engineering problems. Able to prioritize work and complete multiple tasks under deadlines and budget guidelines. Must be U.S. Citizen or permanent resident able to pass background investigation and potentially obtain US government Secret Clearance. Due to federal contract requirements, only U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders) are eligible for this position.
