Remote Project Scope:
Migration project Moving from PowerMax to Power Skill (Data Storage and Protection). Working with InfoSec Teams, Storage Teams, Netscaler Team, DNS Teams, etc. Work closely with multiple application teams.
- Dept consists of 19 currently
- Managed Kubernetes/OpenShift (7-8 years now).
Looking for someone familiar with OS clusters (how it works, etc.). Support application migration (story side) to Kubernetes. Must know CI/CD (use GITLab and Jenkins) as this will be used for migration. We use QUAY Image repository (Red Hat). Basic coding would be a
PLUS Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on containerized infrastructure
- Strong expertise in OpenShift/Kubernetes administration, including cluster setup, node management, and resource allocation
- Proficiency in Docker, including container creation, management, and orchestration
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools, including Grafana and Prometheus
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and experience with Jenkins
- On-Call Rotation after first few months (every 2 months will have 1 full week rotation)

Description:
Senior IT Systems Engineers are responsible for monitoring, installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting and maintenance of technology solutions. Senior IT Systems Engineer’s provide technical support and troubleshoot problems and perform scripting/programming to ensure stable and efficient operation of technology solutions. As a Sr. Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our containerized infrastructure using OpenShift/Kubernetes. You will work closely with our development teams to ensure seamless deployment and operation of our applications.
Essential functions:
- Design, implement, and maintain OpenShift/Kubernetes clusters for containerized application deployment
- Configure and manage Kubernetes cluster for containers, images, and registries
- Develop and maintain monitoring and logging solutions using Grafana, Prometheus, and other tools
- Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of applications
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to containerized infrastructure
- Develop and maintain documentation for systems and processes
- Participate in on-call rotation for 24/7 support
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies
- Manage and maintain container image repositories using Quay, including image scanning, vulnerability management, and access control
- Performs installation, monitoring, testing, configuration, migration, maintenance and troubleshooting of assigned technology
- Manages system/application environment and ongoing operations
- Ensures that the technologies are updated with current, stable, and compliant architecture and applications that meet enterprise standards
- Resolves alerts and performs remediation activities
- Manages problem or escalated tickets and tasks and out of cycle requests from systems/software owners
- Collects and presents data for reporting and planning
- Collaborates with IT and business area partners on work groups and initiatives
- Determines best course of action for meeting business needs
- May provide input into infrastructure architecture designs
- Writes programming/scripting
- May participate in Disaster Recovery planning and exercises
- Performs on-call activities as needed for the environment and technologies
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on containerized infrastructure
- Strong expertise in OpenShift/Kubernetes administration, including cluster setup, node management, and resource allocation
- Proficiency in Docker, including container creation, management, and orchestration
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools, including Grafana and Prometheus
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and experience with Jenkins
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Extensive working knowledge of multiple technologies and their interfaces and integration
- Experience analyzing business requirements and translating them into technical solutions
- Experience using Agile methodology
Required Experience:
5-8 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of transferable experience demonstrating proficiency and experience in design, implementation, monitoring and troubleshooting technology
Required Education:
Related Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field or relevant work experience
