AWS Cloud Engineer Simple Syllabus 2502 North Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 Who You Will Be As a Cloud and System Engineer at Simple Syllabus, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability and availability of our industry leading platform. In this role you will coordinate with the technical staff to protect our critical systems and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, provide training, and assist in developing the overall IT strategy. At the core of the position will be the maintenance of our essential IT infrastructure within Amazon Web Services. In addition you will help support deployments, security tools, applications, and servers. You will be expected to present and defend ideas, as well as challenge ideas from other team members, all in a positive and constructive environment. Likewise, you will work closely with the CTO in determining the best way to maintain and improve the application architecture. Simple Syllabus is a centralized, template-driven platform that enables instructors to quickly personalize and publish interactive class syllabi for mobile, web, and print formats. The application’s unique approach pulls together established institutional data such as policies, learning objectives, and course section content so faculty and staff don’t have to—saving time and ensuring easy compliance and reporting for accreditation. Required Qualifications Experience in infrastructure design, integration, and cloud computing (specifically Amazon AWS) Experience with some or all of the following AWS services and tools: EC2, ECS, CloudWatch, CloudFront, ELBs, IAM, Lambda, and Batch. Ability to audit and maintain AWS environments to the highest appropriate security standards and practices. Experience with programming or scripting languages, such as Python and Javascript. Perform Linux server setup and administration tasks (ex: user/group, security permissions, group policies, print services); research event-log warnings and errors; and monitor resources to ensure that systems architecture components work together seamlessly Monitor data-center health using existing management tools, and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers when needed Assist the support staff and other teams with troubleshooting to identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed Perform routine and scheduled audits of all systems, including backups
