Job Overview The Senior Director, Infrastructure & Cloud Platforms will play a pivotal role in providing strategic and technology leadership for Macy’s. This position is responsible for collaborating with application and business partners within Technology, Product Organization, Architecture & Analytics and various other teams to create/socialize/get buy-in on the strategic vision for these areas. The successful candidate would have demonstrated deep domain knowledge of infrastructure, cloud platforms and middleware integrations. In addition, FinOps, vendor negotiations, clear appreciation of future technology trends and proven track record of innovation is required. The Senior Director is based in Johns Creek, GA and will report to VP, Compute & Operations.

What You Will Do Technology Leadership:

Lead infrastructure, integrations, API management and operations across cloud, data center, compute, storage, middleware, servers, and telemetry. Drive next-gen operations strategy and execution, including cloud transformation. Ensure scalable, high-performing, cost-efficient systems and platforms. Guide engineering and architecture to evolve capabilities. Collaborate across engineering, security, and business teams in a matrixed environment. Foster a metrics-driven culture with advanced reporting and training. Promote operational excellence aligned with business needs. Build trusted relationships across internal teams and external partners.

Cloud Platforms & FinOps:

Set vision and strategy for infrastructure and cloud platform growth. Guide infrastructure automation and software-defined architecture. Advise on system design, risk, cost-benefit, and process impact. Lead hybrid cloud strategy and manage vendor relationships. Provide architectural and engineering best practices. Manage enterprise cloud platforms, container orchestrations, and integration.

Data Center Technology:

Ensure infrastructure supports business growth and continuity. Recommend innovative facility technologies with a 3-5 year outlook. Lead change while maintaining technical reliability. Standardize infrastructure and hardware procedures.

Infrastructure Engineering & Operations:

Deliver technology strategy and solutions for 24×7 tech operations for uninterrupted service. Continuously align data center architecture and business goals. Design and manage infrastructure performance and capacity planning. Deliver scalable, global technology solutions. Remove productivity barriers through process re-engineering. Deliver projects on time and within budget. Coordinate with Macy’s Tech on shared services and systems. Manage budgets and ensure efficient staffing. Develop and mentor staff with clear performance goals. Skills You Will Need Exceptional strategic thinking with the ability to translate business goals into technological strategies. Strong communication and leadership skills to influence diverse stakeholders and foster innovation. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver measurable business outcomes. Strong communicator across technical and non-technical audiences. Who You Are 15+ years of experience in infrastructure/cloud engineering and transformation in retail. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. Proven executive leadership in distributed tech environments Experience managing $10M+capital and expense budgets Expertise in cloud migration and legacy modernization Collaborative, results-driven, and committed to fostering a culture of innovation and inclusion. Skilled at influencing senior leadership and bridging technical and business perspectives. Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel.
