Systems Engineer II Position Available In East Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Description TEKsystems is looking for a Systems Engineer II for a 6 month contract to hire with a healthcare client in the Baton Rouge area. This person will support, maintain, and optimize the health system’s server, cloud, and virtualization infrastructure. This role involves managing a broad array of technologies including Microsoft, Citrix, VMware, and Azure services. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise, operational discipline, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support a diverse IT infrastructure including Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
• Design, implement, and manage Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud services, including Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Azure AD.
• Maintain and optimize VMware virtualization platforms.
• Support and administer Citrix environments to ensure performance and reliability.
• Manage enterprise storage platforms such as Pure Storage.
• Oversee backup and disaster recovery systems including Veeam and Rubrik.
• Use SolarWinds and other monitoring tools to proactively maintain system health.
• Work with Cisco infrastructure to ensure seamless integration across the environment.
• Manage incidents and service requests via a Service Desk ticketing system (e.g., ServiceNow, Zendesk).
• Participate in capacity planning, patch management, system upgrades, and on-call rotation. Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3-5 years of progressive experience in systems engineering or infrastructure support.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with: oMicrosoft technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP) oMicrosoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, etc.

) oAzure services (Azure AD, VM provisioning, identity/security management) oVMware virtualization oCitrix administration oCisco network fundamentals oVeeam and Rubrik backup solutions oPure Storage arrays oSolarWinds monitoring oService Desk ticketing systems Preferred Certifications (not required but a plus):

• Microsoft Certified:

  Azure Administrator Associate or M365 Fundamentals

• VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
• Citrix Certified Associate (CCA)
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
• Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) Work Environment This position is hybrid on site with 1-2 days per week on site. They have 2 DBA’s, 3 Network Engineers, 3 Systems Engineers, and 12 on the Desktop support team. Hours are Mon
• Fri, 8
• 5 CST. On Call
• 1 week on, 3 weeks off. Client will ease them in doing on-call during the weekday first, then eventually 24/7 a week at a time after about 6 months and they’ve had time to learn the environment. Call volume varies
• sometimes none and sometimes multiple.

This Engineer will handle only the highest escalation after the help desk and another team before it reaches them.
