Enterprise Technology is searching for Senior Director, Edge Platform Engineering and DevOps Services, who will be responsible for driving strategic direction and Operational excellence of Ford’s over 600 distributed sites. This includes 70 plus Manufacturing sites where we are driving software defined Manufacturing. In this position… We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Director, Edge Platform Engineering & DevOps Services to lead and drive transformational initiatives in our Data Center and Edge infrastructure, DevOps, and developer experience. The ideal candidate will have over 20 years of industry experience, with extensive hands-on expertise in managing Red Hat OSV/CaaS infrastructure and migrating from VMware to Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization (OSV) and CAAS (Containers-as-a-Service) infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of modern development pipelines, CI/CD, and automation to enhance operational efficiency and scalability. What you’ll do…

Strategic Leadership:

Define and execute the roadmap for DC/Edge infrastructure transformation, including migration from VMware to Red Hat OSV and CAAS environments.

Migration Expertise:

Lead large-scale migrations, ensuring seamless transitions with minimal disruption while optimizing performance, security, and cost.

Developer Experience & Productivity:

Establish and refine DevOps best practices, tools, and frameworks to enhance developer experience, agility, and efficiency.

CI/CD & Automation:

Oversee end-to-end implementation of modern CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and automation strategies to accelerate software delivery.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:

Partner with engineering, application development, and operations teams to align technology strategies with business objectives.

Security & Compliance:

Ensure adherence to security policies, governance, and compliance frameworks in cloud and containerized environments.

Performance Optimization:

Drive continuous improvements in cloud performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

Innovation & Emerging Technologies:

Stay ahead of industry trends, evaluating and implementing cutting-edge technologies to improve infrastructure reliability and developer efficiency.

Vendor Management:

Manage relationship with key technology vendors, negotiating contracts and ensuring optimal utilization.

Financial Management:

Manage budgets and resources effectively ensuring cost-effectiveness and optimal return on investment, prioritize technical debt to mitigate risk and ensure infrastructure health.
